The Turtle Atlas Project of Massachusetts
A citizen-science program for the study and conservation of Massachusetts turtles, and the habitats they depend on.

It's free, fun, and a great way to learn about turtles!

What is the Turtle Atlas?
It's a way for citizen scientists (like you!) to help biologists and conservationists learn more about turtle populations.

How does it help turtles?
Several species of New England turtles are in decline. Your observations are combined with those of others to learn how our region’s turtles are doing. The information can lead to more effective methods of protecting and restoring turtle populations.

But I don't know much about turtles.
No problem! We give you all the information you need. You’ll be the local “turtle expert” in no time!

How can I become a turtle monitor?
It’s easy!

Step 1: Sign Up. It takes less than two minutes.

Step 2: Print your Training Manual that will teach you the skills to be a top-notch turtle monitor.

Step 3: When you have a turtle sighting to report, just log-in and enter the information.
