Report roadkill hotspots.

Read more about turtles and roads at MassDOT/MassWildlife’s Linking Landscapes site.

Please use the map and form below to report specific locations where multiple turtles are killed each year on roadways.

Most towns in the Commonwealth have turtle roadkill hotspots. If none come to mind, keep an eye out along causeways, at stream crossings, near wetland edges, vernal pools, gravel pits, and ponds.

Step 1. Navigate to the exact observation area using the tool bar in the upper-left corner of the map.

Step 2. Zoom in as far as possible to improve accuracy.

Step 3: Click on the roadkill site (a text box with lat/long will appear on the screen), and the lat/long fields will autofill.

Step 4. Complete as much of the form below as possible, and hit ‘submit.’

Step 5. E-mail any photos that you have to the address given at the prompt (mtjones@bio.umass.edu).
